Social Events Ministry

At Mountain View, we believe that good, wholesome fellowship and activities help bond together the body of Christ. It’s our endeavor to provide quality social activities that will bless and uplift all who attend.

Each Sabbath (Saturday) after church, we have a vegetarian fellowship dinner. All are welcome to attend!

Examples of some of the fun social events we hold include a Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast; a late-summer Corn Roast; a Fall Hayride at the Miller Farm; our Annual Apple Pie Festival; Game Nights; Agape Suppers; a Live Nativity (complete with animals!) at Christmastime; and more!

Make sure to check out our events calendar, so you can attend the next social event we hold! Or contact us if you’d like to be put on our Events email list to find out about social events plus all the other exciting free activities we hold throughout the year!

Sunshine Ministries

Our Sunshine Ministries Team provides care baskets to church members who are ill, recovering from a surgery, or facing health problems. These Sunshine Baskets help to cheer and encourage people on the road to recovery. Care baskets often include books, puzzles, coloring books, journals, and other activities for the recipient to enjoy as they recover. Additionally, our deaconess team often arranges meals (prepared by other church members) to be delivered to the home of the ill person so they do not have to worry about food preparation as they recover.

Our Sunshine Ministries Team goes to local nursing homes in Vernon and Brattleboro to visit the residents and present musical programs to them. If you like to sing, we would love for you to join us as we minister to the nursing home residents!

We also provide food baskets or other assistance to local families who have been displaced due to house fires or other tragedies. If you know of a local resident who is in need of assistance, please contact us.

Bags of Love Ministry

Our Bags of Love Ministry is a group that makes quilts and prepares bags for children who have been removed from their home by the authorities.

When a child is removed from their home by the local child protective service, it is often in the middle of the night.  Usually, they can take nothing with them but the clothes on their backs.  They are frightened and very alone. Their parents may have just been arrested and taken away in handcuffs, or worse.

A child orphaned by a parent’s drug addiction, or perhaps by abuse or neglect, often loses everything:  their toys, clothes, personal items, even family pictures. These children are in need – not because of anything that they have done, but because of the poor choices of others.  All children removed from their homes are victims.

Our Bags of Love Ministry is designed to help ease the transition for children when they must be removed from their home. We provide them something to call their very own. The contents of the bags are very basic, but special:  a kid-sized hand-made quilt; a soft, cuddly toy; personal care items (such as a comb, hairbrush, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.); two toys for young children, and age-appropriate items for older children. Our Bags of Love are delivered to the local agencies charged with removing children due to abuse or neglect. The Bags of Love help ease the pain by showing the children the love of their community.

Volunteers are always needed to sew quilts and bags.  You can donate items for the bags, or donate money to purchase needed items.  All gifts are tax-deductible and go directly to help children in this area. Help us help them!
